Design And Develop Data Warehouse to Measure Terminal Gate Productivity
Challenge
Initially, the focus of the automation initiative was to measure the effectiveness of the automated gate operation, specifically assessing the accuracy of OCR technology. However, as the automation matured, the company recognized the need to evaluate how gate productivity improved as a result of these advancements.
Solution
To address this challenge, a comprehensive data warehouse solution was designed and developed. It integrated data from OCR scanners, the Gate Operating System, and the Financial system to measure gate productivity and its correlation with operational costs. SAP Business Objects was utilized to visualize the data, providing insights at the company and terminal location levels with drill-down capabilities for detailed analysis.
Result
The company identified opportunities for cost optimization, streamlined operations, and increased efficiency by analyzing the correlation between productivity metrics and financial data.
