Challenge
A transportation company in the San Francisco Bay Area had been using SAP Business Objects for a couple of years to manage their reporting needs. However, as time went on, they encountered significant challenges. With over 2,000 reports created by various users, the company faced difficulties in finding specific reports and experienced duplications, causing inefficiencies and frustration.
Solution
Upon assessing the situation, our team identified a key opportunity for improvement. We discovered that the company operated multiple sites, each with its own database. Leveraging this insight, we implemented a strategic approach to streamline the reporting environment. By creating distinct data profiles and connections for each site while maintaining the same database structure, we effectively reduced the number of reports to a single set of unique reports.

Furthermore, we applied best practices in universe design and report development to enhance usability and searchability. Each object within the universes was assigned appropriate descriptions, facilitating easier searches for specific objects. Additionally, we added comprehensive descriptions to reports, enabling users to quickly find relevant information and reports based on their specific needs.
